Lake Marion Christian Church started as a dream and desire by Johnny and Elease Radcliffe to see a New Testament Independent Christian Church in Clarendon County. Johnny and Elease were living in the Lake Marion area and attending Autumn Woods Christian Church in Dazell almost an hour away.
Johnny and Elease loved AWCC but the distance made it hard to be involved like they would like and again they felt that the Lake Marion area needed an Independent Christian Church so the dream started to take shape. The leadership of AWCC started planning and praying about helping the Radcliffes dream become a reality.

In April 2011, the Radcliffes purchased a 3500 sq. ft. building on about two acres of land and donated this to become the future site of Lake Marion Christian Church. July rolled around and a Thursday night Bible study was started in a house near the lake, with Tim Brown the preacher at AWCC leading the study. Eight people from the area as well as some members from AWCC who came down to encourage them.
In July Mike and Teresa Grant were attending the North American Christian Convention to be fed spiritually and to see if they might find some leads on some open ministries. On opening night of the NACC with several thousand people or more in attendance the first person Mike bumps into Tim Brown where Tim begins to tell Mike about the plans for planting a Church in the Lake Marion area and ask Mike to consider coming. (We now believe that this accidental meeting might have actually been a divine arrangement.) In August, Mike and Teresa traveled to the South Carolina to survey the area and to hear the plans and dreams. After spending several days in the Lake Marion area with the Radcliffes, Mike met with the elders of Autumn Woods and was asked to consider coming to help with this new work. After praying for two weeks Mike and Teresa said yes to the elders request and began to make plans to move. The small group of believers started Sunday night services the first Sunday night in September.
Mike and Teresa moved to Lake Marion the end of September with October 2, being their first Sunday. It was at this time we started to meet on Sunday mornings.
